Marine air bags or commonly known as ship launching air bags are important equipment that is often used in shipyards in Indonesia for launching new ships (ship launching), docking, and floating lifting.
This marine air bag is very flexible and strong, made of layered rubber (usually with cord layer / nylon) that is resistant to high pressure, friction, and marine environmental conditions.
FUNCTION & USE OF MARINE AIR BAGS
- Ship Launching
Marine air bags are usually used to launch ships from land to sea horizontally or at an angle. This method replaces expensive conventional slipways.
- Docking and Undocking
Marine air bags can also help lift ships to land for repairs / maintenance (dry docking) and lower them back down.
- Heavy Lifting
Marine air bags can be used to lift heavy loads such as metal structures, bridges, ships, and large machines.
- Salvage (Saving Sunken Ships)
Marine air bags are installed in the hull of a sinking ship, filled with air to float and move the ship to the surface.
